Meet the Team Behind Tink!

Meet some of the folks behind Tink!

Tony_team_400Tony has been an Equity actor for 20 years, he is also a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC) and the Dramatist’s Guild of America. He started writing stories as a child and the act of coming up with them and telling them has remained a constant fascination. He has served as Stage Right’s Artistic Director since its inception in 1998. He has directed over 60 professional productions in and around the Pittsburgh region, as well as creating the very successful Book Come Alive program which partners with children’s book authors to make their work into mini musicals that travel to local libraries all over Pennsylvania. This summer he is collaborating with NFL All-Pro Antonio Brown to turn his childhood into the children’s musical “Run Antonio Run”. His company has also created one of the first sensory friendly theatre series in the region, catering to audiences with special needs or who are on the spectrum. His previously produced full-length musicals include; Snow White, a new musical, The Adventures of Little Red, Sleeping Beauty and River’s of Destiny (The story of George Washington and the French and Indian War) He conceived and served as book writer for all of these. Tink is a story that is near and dear to his heart and creating a musical out her story was inspired by his son Anthony, although he secretly loves that they are telling Captain Hooks story as well!

lena-hed-400Lena Gabrielle has worked in fields from comedy to cabaret, performing onstage and in concert and writing for film, internet and the stage. Growing up just outside of Rochester, NY, she rose to prominence online in 2007 as singer/songwriter for The Butterbeer Experience, a musical tribute to the Harry Potter fandom. In between releases, she also performed as a solo artist, touring the country and collaborating with actors such as Darren Criss and Chris Rankin. During her Butterbeer Experience days, she began writing for the stage, composing musicals and operas about the Harry Potter universe and rehearsing them primarily online with casts of volunteers. After graduating from Ithaca College and living briefly in Portland, OR, and New York City, Lena became in-house composer and orchestrator for Stage Right Theatricals, a Pittsburgh-based initiative for producing artistically progressive but commercially viable new musical theatre. She premiered “Little Red” in January of 2014 and “Sleeping Beauty” in September of the same year, both with book by Anthony Marino and lyrics and additional dialogue by Greg Kerestan. “Tink!” is her third collaboration with Marino and Kerestan, and she is ecstatic to tell this story. Lena returned to New York City in the fall of 2015, where she serves as a music director, vocal coach, orchestrator, and actress. Off-Broadway: New York Animals (Ensemble/ Instrumentalist/ Assistant Music Director) Dir. Eric Tucker. Regional (Bucks County Playhouse): A Taste Of Things to Come (Music Director/ co-orchestrator) dir. Lorin Lotarro. If she had any spare time, Lena would enjoy watching the Food Network, advocating for mental health awareness, and getting tattoos.

Pittsburgh native Greg Kerestan has worked professionally in his hometown as actor, writer, musician, composer and journalist since 2009. After writing the book and co-writing music and lyrics with David Mahokey for his first original musical, “In Control,” in 2011, Kerestan has produced at least one original work for the stage since then, mostly through his ongoing partnership with Stage Right! Professional Theatre and School for the Performing Arts. “Tink” is Kerestan’s third collaboration with composer-lyricist Lena Gabrielle and librettist Anthony Marino (director of the 2015 “Tink” premiere). In his spare time, Kerestan enjoys taking long walks, collecting (but never quite mastering) eccentric musical instruments, and tinkering with outdated computer software.
